Founded in 1877, the Technische Universität Darmstadt (TUDA) is one of the best-known universities in Germany, in particular in the engineering disciplines. The TUDA is a founding member of the TU9, an association of Germany’s largest technical universities.

The chair for "Multimedia Communications (KOM)" at TUDA, headed by Prof. Ralf Steinmetz, was founded in 1996. KOM is located in Darmstadt, Germany, at Rundeturmstr. 10. It is active in the communication and multimedia systems research areas. KOM cooperates closely with various industry R&D laboratories and has participated (respectively still participates) in a number of European projects such as “80Days”, “SmoothIT”, and “Content”. KOM has currently more than 35 research staff members. Research areas are Service-oriented Computing, Semantic Computing, Peer-to-Peer systems, Quality of Service in broadband and in mobile/ad-hoc networks, sensor networks, and multimedia services and media distribution. The results of this research are published and presented in both national and international scientific journals and conferences.

Framework for flexible and efficient cross-organizational manufacturing processes (including finding of appropriate partners)

What we offer

The Technische Universität Darmstadt is coordinating the research project ADVENTURE – ADaptive Virtual ENterprise manufacTURing Environment – which is a project funded in the Seventh Framework Programme by the European Commission.

The framework proposed by ADVENTURE provides mechanisms and tools that facilitate the creation and operation of manufacturing processes in a modular way. ADVENTURE combines the power of individual factories to achieve complex manufacturing processes. It provides tools for partner-finding, process creation, process optimization, information exchange as well as real-time monitoring combined with the tracking of goods and linking them to Cloud services.

What we are looking for

We are looking for end-users that are eager to use ADVENTURE for participating in cross-organizational manufacturing processes and collaborating with other companies. Registering and advertising own manufacturing capabilities at the ADVENTURE platform increases the visibility of companies, especially SMEs, in the manufacturing domain. In this respect, we aim at finding companies that are willing to register their company profiles along with offered products and services for being recommended for and involved in aforementioned cross-organizational manufacturing processes.
